UPDATE as of 8:37 p.m.: The fire is knocked down, after mostly destroying two garages and slightly damaging a third, according to Tacoma Fire. Tacoma Power is on scene to handle the burnt line. It doesn’t appear power to the surrounding area has been affected.

One patient is being evaluated for non-life-threatening injuries, Tacoma Fire officials said. It’s not clear if the patient is an owner of one of the garages.

Investigators are still determining what caused the fire.

Crews were called to the scene about 7:30 p.m. They also knocked down a small grass fire that started as a result of the garage fires.

INITIAL POST: Crews are fighting a garage fire in the 1200 block of East 64th Street that seems to have burned through a power line, according to Tacoma Fire.

Initial reports indicate that no one has been injured in the blaze.

Firefighters have blocked off the damaged power line until it is able to be shut off.

The roughly two-car garage is detached from the adjacent house, according to Tacoma Fire.
