A 25-year-old woman was critically injured Thursday night when she was thrown from a motorcycle, Tacoma police said.

The accident occurred about 1:20 a.m. at S. Yakima Avenue and S. 86th Street.

The motorcycle was southbound on Yakima Avenue when it struck the concrete center divider, throwing the woman and the driver from the bike.

Police were unsure whether the pair was wearing helmets.

The woman was taken to the hospital. The driver, a 26-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
