Drills at Bangor base may be seen, heard by residents today

Residents in Pierce and Kitsap counties may hear gunshots and see smoke today from a security drill being held on the Naval Base Kitsap Bangor.

The exercises will be held today from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Multiple agencies will “develop security procedures to ensure the safety and security of U. S. military resources,” according to the base.

Drills will include blank ammunition, noise producing simulators, smoke, aircraft and armored vehicles on the highways.
