Crews are searching the water and shorelines near the Tacoma Narrows Bridges after receiving a report that a man jumped from the eastbound bridge tonight, according to Pierce County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Ed Troyer.

A witness called in a report just after 8 a.m. that a light-skinned man in his 30s jumped. It’s not clear if the reportee was a motorist or pedestrian.

Tacoma Fire, Gig Harbor police and Washington State Patrol are also responding.

The Tacoma Fire boat, sheriff’s boat and Gig Harbor police boat are investigating.

A Coast Guard Helicopter is on its way from Port Angeles.
