Tacoma police are searching for the driver who hit a 12-year-old boy while he was walking to school last week and fled the scene.

The hit-and-run accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. Friday in the 5100 block of Portland Avenue.

The boy was crossing the street when he was struck by a car. The boy, who suffered minor injuries, was able to walk to the sidewalk, but the driver fled the scene.

The vehicle was a black or dark-colored Honda or Mitsubishi with an Asian man in his 20s behind the wheel.
