Three Pierce County medical professionals have been charged with unprofessional conduct, according to the state Department of Health.

Those being disciplined include:

– LaShaunda Crocklem was working at Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community when she allegedly forged a letter to the state Department of Social and Health Services from her employer claiming that Crocklem was no longer employed due to medical reasons.

The state said she confessed to forging the letter, claiming she did it because she wanted financial assistance.

Crocklem’s nursing assistant certification, which she earned in August 2009, has been suspended.

– Teosia Paaga, a nursing assistant, was charged with unprofessional conduct for allegedly stealing $30 from a patient at The Village Retirement and Assisted Living facility in Tacoma.

Paaga was working there when she was accused of taking the cash in December from a woman’s purse.

– Ronni Benson was initially charged after not properly disposing of prescription medications like Hydrocodone and Percocet. In 2010, she failed a drug test and tested positive for Oxycodone and Oxymorphone. Benson also allegedly bought televisions for four residents at Cascade Gardens, took their money as reimbursement and then returned the TVs without providing the resident with money or the television.

Benson’s nursing license was reinstated but she was placed on probation, which the state claims she violated last month. That prompted a new charge of unprofessional conduct.
