Police said a 37-year-old man staying at a hotel in Fife accidentally shot himself in the hand today.

The shooting occurred just after 10 a.m. in the 3500 block of Pacific Highway East. Officers were called to the scene and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound from a 45 caliber pistol.

Police said the bullet went through the wall of his hotel room and pieces of it landed on a bed next to a man in the adjoining room. The second man was not injured.

The shooter was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Detectives found five more guns in the man’s room while investigating the shooting.
