Tacoma Fire officials said a man power-washing an apartment building in preparation to paint it made contact with a primary power line near 6th Avenue and South Meyers Street this afternoon , causing a power outage in the area.

The man was in an articulating bucket lift when he made contact with the line about 1:30 p.m.

No one was hurt, though a co-worker on the ground was knocked off his feet from the electricity, according to Tacoma Fire.

The pressure washing hose the man in the bucket was using melted and burned all the way to the ground, officials said.

Several hours later, power had been restored to the area.
