A 28-year-old Tacoma man wanted for assaulting his pregnant girlfriend was arrested Wednesday night.

The victim told officers her boyfriend threw her down and choked her until she passed out Tuesday night at their home in the 900 block of South Grant Avenue.

The man took a handgun and fled the home before police arrived.

Officers sifted through old police reports related to the man and began visiting addresses he once listed as his own. Police found him at a house a block away and surrounded it until he surrendered.

The gun was recovered and the man was booked into the Pierce County Jail.
