Two people were injured in a crash Tuesday night after a 48-year-old Spanaway man abruptly made a U-turn on state Route 410 and struck another vehicle head-on in Bonney Lake, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The collision occurred about 9 p.m. in the 24400 block of SR 410. Troopers said drugs or alcohol likely played a role in the accident.

The Spanaway man was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck west on SR 410 when he suddenly made a U-turn as he approached 234th Avenue East and began driving east in the westbound lanes. He struck a 1989 Mazda 929 driven by a 23-year-old Buckley woman.

Both drivers were taken to Tacoma General Hospital. Their conditions were not immediately known.

A lot of idiots on 410. The stretch between Buckley and Bonnie Lake is deadly. Good place for distracted drivers to pay attention.

and how often do we see this type of headline where the ‘influence’ the driver is under is marijuana?
I think lawmakers and society in general demonize the wrong substances.

    I really detest drunk drivers.
