A controlled burn at JBLM will be visible in the South Sound until 4 p.m., according to the Department of Natural Resources. The fire was expected to be seen from Yelm, Olympia, Interstate 5 and Tacoma, according to the DNR.

A separate controlled burn by Scatter Creek, near Centralia, should be visible from I-5 and the South Sound, the DNR said, though they weren’t sure how long that one would last.
