A man accused of trying to kill his estranged wife in front of her eight children was arrested Saturday evening and booked into Pierce County Jail after he turned himself in, police said.

Joshua Emanuel Howard, 26, is charged with second-degree attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Howard became angry when he was visiting his children July 6, at which point his wife started getting ready to leave the house with the kids, according to charging papers.

He allegedly took out a revolver, said he loved her and “I gotta kill you,” before firing a bullet later found in the bottom of the stairs, court papers show.
