A 58-year-old Federal Way man who died Wednesday after losing control of his vehicle, driving off the Thea Foss Waterway cable bridge and onto Interstate 705 has been identified as Scott Jablon.

The Washington State Patrol is still investigating what caused the crash, but said Jablon may have experienced a medical condition because there were no signs he tried to hit the brakes after striking the first concrete barrier.

Troopers said Jablon was heading west on state Route 509 when he lost control, drifted to the right side of the road and hit a few concrete barriers before going past the onramp to northbound Interstate 705.

His 2007 Ford Taurus then struck a concrete traffic island on the overpass and was launched down onto I-705, landing in the northbound lanes.

Scott was the first attorney I ever worked for while I was waiting to receive my legal secretary degree. Even though it has been over 13 years since we worked together, I’ll never forget you were the first one to take a chance on me. Rest in peace, Scott.

Scott was my best friend on his way to meet for our regular lunch at the Ram. I miss my friend you have left a big whole in all of the lives of the people that knew you. Your son will be well cared for in your absence. Rest in peace.

Fantasy baseball buddy and sometimes lunch partner. I’ll miss the phone call trade offers Scott. RIP
