A 38-year-old Olympia man was killed Monday night after losing control of his motorcycle and driving into a ditch, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The accident occurred at 9:45 p.m. at Rainier Road and 91st Avenue in Thurston County.

Troopers said the man was heading north on Rainier Road when he drifted off the road into a ditch and went through a culvert before he was thrown from his 2004 Suzuki GSXR10 motorcycle.

The man, who was not identified, was wearing a helmet.

Speed is believed to be the cause of the fatal crash.
