A man in his 20s was killed early Sunday morning in the Skyway area of King County.

According to King County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Cindi West, deputies were called around 1:35 a.m. to the 5600 block of South Langston Road for reports of shots fired.

When deputies arrived, they found the victim sitting in a car; he had been shot, West said in a news release. The deputies performed first aid until medics arrived. Efforts to resuscitate the man were unsuccessful.

The victim, who is from Renton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to witnesses, the victim and a few friends had been celebrating the victim’s birthday at a nearby residence when the young man went outside to charge his cell phone in a friend’s car. That’s when shots rang out.

There are no suspect descriptions at this time. The King County Major Crimes team is investigating.
