A Stage 1 burn ban has been declared in Pierce County starting Thursday morning, according to the Fire Marshal.
The week’s forecast of hot, dry weather prompted the ban, which applies to all outdoor burning except small recreational fires in pits at approved campgrounds or private property.
Gas and propane self-contained stoves are still allowed.
The ban begins at 8 a.m. Thursday as temperatures are supposed to soar into the 90s.
People with approved Department of Natural Resources burn permits to call 800-323-BURN for more information.
