A Puyallup motorcyclist who was killed Friday after an unoccupied septic truck rolled down a hill and struck him has been identified as 30-year-old James Sharp.

The father of three was heading north on 122nd Avenue East about 5:15 p.m. when the parked truck rolled 500 feet into the intersection and hit him. It had been parked on a slope along 151st Street East.

The truck’s driver told Pierce County sheriff’s deputies he’d set the parking brake but an inspection showed the brake had not been set, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The 63-year-old driver, who works for an Eatonville company, was cited for negligent driving, a misdemeanor.

  1. Negligent driving of a parked vehicle….that makes sense.
