Fife police said they were called to a bank Friday after a man tried to cash a fraudulent check and ended up in a high-speed chase with two suspected accomplices.

A Bank of America employee notified officers about 3 p.m. that a man was trying to cash a fraudulent check. Police arrested him and then located his vehicle outside with a man behind the wheel and a woman in the passenger seat.

As it pulled away in a “reckless manner,” an officer ordered the driver to stop. Instead, the vehicle continued speeding on Highway 509 until the man lost control and rolled the car into the bushes.

Police arrested the woman immediately after the crash. The man fled on foot and made it a quarter mile south of the accident scene before being taken into custody.
