A 47-year-old man died this evening after being hit by a truck while walking in the 10100 block of 214th Avenue East, where officials were called about 5:30 p.m. according to the Bonney Lake Police Department.

The man was walking northbound on the shoulder of the road, just off State Route 410 East, when he was hit by the truck and rolled up onto its windshield and hood, police spokesman Todd Green said.

He was carried for a few hundred feet before he fell to the ground.

The driver then allegedly went to a nearby store to purchase a beverage, before returning to the scene, where witnesses identified him, Green said.

The man was arrested, and police are investigating whether he was under the influence, based on evidence at the scene, Green said.

Witnesses performed CPR at the scene, but the victim later died at St. Joseph Medical Center, Green said.

Sometimes our alleged journalists overuse the word alleged.

He was a good man. Hard working, funny and a great father to his children and a great husband to his wife. You will be missed Gary.

Another sad story of drugs and/or alcohol abuse ending an innocent person’s life. Not to mention this poor victim’s loved ones.
This may not be this defendant’s first run in with a crime like this.
