Firefighters this afternoon doused a blaze that started in a 40-foot tall wood chip hopper in Spanaway, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.

The fire was reported about 11:50 a.m. at RFP Manufacturing Inc., 21222 Mountain Highway East.

Flames were contained to the hopper and doused about 12:10 p.m., Assistant Fire Chief Randy Stephens said.

It’s unclear what sparked the fire.
