An 11-year-old boy was airlifted this afternoon to Harborview Medical Center after he was hit by a car while riding his bike  in Auburn, police Commander Mike Hirman said.

The boy’s injuries were not life-threatening, Hirman said.

He was hit about 2:30 in a crosswalk at Auburn Way South and 12th Street Southeast by an elderly woman who was turning left in an SUV and did not see the boy, Hirman said.

The driver was cited for failure to yield the right of way at a crosswalk, Hirman said.
