UPDATE as of Wednesday morning: Jessica Anderson continues the battle to wake up and about $4,200 in donations have poured in to help her family take care of medical bills.

Her father, Dale Anderson, said she was preparing to follow in his footsteps and be a firefighter. She had recently been accepted to Bates Technical College.

“We’re all hoping this doesn’t derail her dream,” he said.

The donation fund and blog updating her condition can be found at

INITIAL POST: A donation fund has been set up for a 22-year-old Tacoma woman who was critically injured in a motorcycle crash and abandoned by the driver.

Jessica Anderson has not regained consciousness at Tacoma General Hospital but a blog updating her condition says doctors may try to wake her up today. She suffered two brain hemorrhages, a broken right leg and fractures in her right rib, chest cavity and right femur.

“Today Jess was again fighting like a champ…” her brother-in-law, Joshua Craig, wrote on the blog.

About $3,800 has been raised so far. The goal is $7,000. The family will use the money to pay for Anderson’s mounting hospital bills.

Anderson was injured July 26 when she was thrown from the back of a motorcycle that crashed in the 1900 block of Marine View Drive.

The driver, 26-year-old Philip Mack, has been charged with one count of vehicular assault and one count of felony hit and run. Prosecutors say he left Anderson unconscious in the bushes and fled the scene.

Speed was a contributing factor in the accident.

  3. I do not understand how someone so pretty, and obviously going down the right track, can get tangled up with someone that could leave her for dead. There is some real snakes out there. Wish the young lady a speedy recovery, and hopefully she learns to judge a person character better before putting her life in hands.
