A 59-year-old motorcyclist died Sunday morning after striking another vehicle on Interstate 5 in Lakewood, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Thomas Wear, of Jackson City, Tenn., was riding his 2011 Harley Davidson north on I-5 near Gravelly Lake Drive when he passed a Subaru Legacy.

Wear then failed to negotiate a curve and hit the Subaru about 9 a.m., WSP reported.

He was taken to Tacoma General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The occupants of the Subaru – a man and woman, both 21, from Missouri – were not injured in the crash.

The incident was caused by reckless driving, troopers said.
