UPDATE: A 15-year-old boy was pulled out of the lake by a South King Fire and Rescue surface diver, after being underwater for about 30 minutes, said Assistant Chief Gordie Olson. They got the call about 2:15 p.m.

He was found under the public dock at the lake, Olson said, and paramedics performed CPR at the scene.

The boy was taken to Saint Francis Hospital in very serious condition, Olson said.

He had been swimming with friends, who saw him slip under.

INITIAL POST: A water rescue was in progress this afternoon at Steel Lake in Federal Way, Cathy Schrock of the Federal Way Police Department said.

South King Fire and Rescue is leading the operation, she said.

“They’re sending in a dive team,” Schrock said. “We’re definitely missing a person.”

Further details were not immediately available.
