The man who was pulled from American Lake early Saturday has died. He has been identified as 27-year-old Leuma Keke of Lakewood.
Emergency crews pulled a man from American Lake about 12:45 a.m. Saturday after he slipped under the water while swimming with friends.
The man, whose name wasn’t released, was taken to a hospital and was in grave condition, West Pierce Fire & Rescue reported. An update on his condition wasn’t available Saturday evening.
The man was in the swimming area at Harry Todd Park in Lakewood. When he didn’t surface, his friends called for help and neighbors dialed 911.
Lakewood police and West Pierce swimmers and divers worked together to find the man, West Pierce Fire reported.
