UPDATE as of 1 p.m. The victim has come out of surgery and is stable. Detectives have not yet been able to interview him.

They interviewed the victim’s girlfriend, who police said did not witness the shooting. A motive remains unknown.

INITIAL POST: A 27-year-old man was shot at a Federal Way apartment early this morning.

Police were called at 3 a.m. to the 29600 block of 24th Avenue South and found a man and his girlfriend inside the apartment. Neither live in the apartment – the man had been shot several times in the stomach.

He was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle for treatment. His condition was not immediately known.

The victim was shot during a party with 6-8 people in attendance, police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock said. The person who lives in the apartment had fled by the time officers arrived.

Detectives are still trying to determine what led up the shooting.
