Event promoter accused of pointing gun at people in Tacoma parking lot

For the second time in a week, people called Tacoma police to complain about a man standing in a parking lot pointing a handgun at passersby.

Officers were unable to locate him last week. But they caught up to him just before midnight Wednesday in a parking lot in the 8400 block of S. Hosmer Street.

Police said the man was promoting an upcoming event and claimed he needed to carry the weapon for protection. He did not have a license for the gun so officers confiscated it.
