Tacoma police said a 20-year-old man crashed into a house early this morning and yelled to officers that he had a gun as he ran away from the scene.

The collision happened at 5:40 a.m. at South Cushman Avenue and South 23rd Street. Officers arriving at the scene spotted the driver trying to flee on foot.

“While they were chasing him, he yelled that he had a gun,” police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

Officers with their guns drawn chased him down the street and searched for about 25 minutes before finding him hiding in a yard.

Alcohol is believed to have been involved in the crash.

He’s lucky he did it in Tacoma. In Seattle, the Police would have shot him.
