Deputy injured in Auburn pursuit

A King County Sheriff’s deputy was taken to Valley General Hospital with minor neck and back injuries tonight after a vehicle he was pursuing accelerated into his patrol car, sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindi West said.

The 34-year-old female suspect, in a small red car, was driving when she saw a deputy behind her and accelerated, West said.

The deputy tried to stop the woman, who was driving in a reckless manner, West said.

The woman made her way to Highway 167 and exited to 15th Street Northwest, where she hit a car that was going east, West said.

The crash turned the car 180 degrees, facing the ramp it had just used to exit. The driver then drove head on into another deputy helping with pursuit, who suffered the minor injuries, West said.

The suspect was booked into jail for investigation of felony eluding and vehicular assault, West said.
