Tacoma police are searching for a suspected drunken driver who crashed his motorcycle Thursday night and fled the scene, leaving behind his critically injured passenger.

The crash occurred about 9 p.m. in the 1900 block of Marine View Drive NE. The driver wiped out on his bike and his 22-year-old female passenger was thrown into the bushes.

“The guy got back on the motorcycle and took off,” police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

The woman was taken to Tacoma General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police said alcohol and speed contributed to the collision.

Officers have asked hospitals to be on the lookout for men who arrive with injuries that could have been sustained in a motorcycle crash. They also have the name of a possible suspect and are looking for him.
