UPDATE: The suspect implied that he had a gun, but was not actually armed,  sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. The man was booked into Pierce County Jail.

INITIAL POST: A suspected bank robber was arrested this afternoon as he tried to leave a Key bank branch that had just been held up, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The robbery was reported about 1:15 p.m.

Deputies responded to the bank at the corner of Pacific Avenue South and 131st Street South within seconds of receiving the call and “got him into custody as he came out,” Troyer said.

No other details were immediately available.
