It was the shoes and a palm print that gave Anthony Walton away.

The 28-year-old has been charged with first-degree robbery with a deadly weapon for a May 17 holdup at a Tacoma 7-Eleven store on South Oakes Street.

Video surveillance of the robbery shows the suspect holding a handgun. Clad in dark clothing and a ski cap, a distinctive brand of Adidas shoes stood out to offers who watched the footage. They also found a palm print inside the front door.

It led police to Walton on June 6 when they arrived at his home to serve a search warrant.

“It appeared that the defendant was leaving the areas as he was packing clothing and belongings into a car,” according to charging papers.

Walton was arrested, and police took the Adidas and gun into evidence.

It’s gotta be the shoes. Fleeing the area. A sure sign of innocence.
