Fife police on Monday arrested a man who stole several rent checks from the apartment complex where he lived.

Officers were called about 12:20 p.m. to the 2300 block of 62nd Avenue East to investigate the burglary, which they said was quickly traced to a resident of the building.

The man had a warrant for his arrest with the Auburn Police Department and barricaded himself inside his apartment because he didn’t want to be taken into custody.

Within three hours, police served a search warrant and arrested the suspect on suspicion of possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Multiple rent checks and a stolen laptop were recovered from the apartment.
