An Enumclaw woman has been charged in connection with beating her boyfriend’s 3-year-old son because he is not potty trained.

Chasity Dufour faces a single count of second-degree child assault. She is set to be arraigned July 19.

King County prosecutors allege Dufour abused to boy from April 30 to May 29, when he was brought to the hospital with severe injuries.

Dufour claimed the boy was playing on a bed when he fell and landed on a metal tool box. Investigators believe he was beaten when he did not make it to a toilet in time.

The boy suffered bruises from head to toe, is partially blinded and will have “lasting neurological and physical challenges,” according to court documents.

The child’s father was not involved in the alleged abuse.
