A 39-year-old Yelm man is accused of running a chop shop, with at least three vehicles stolen from Pierce County recovered.

The man is jailed on suspicion of first-degree possession of stolen property.

Thurston County sheriff’s deputies were called Saturday to a home on 152rd Avenue SE after neighbors noticed a man trying to break into a home and then leaving a dirt bike with an altered VIN number on the property.

Through investigation, deputies discovered that the man had several stolen vehicles at his home in the 18700 block of Stagecoach Lane SE.

After serving a search warrant, deputies recovered a travel trailer and Honda motorcycle stolen from Pierce County and a Yamaha motorcycle stolen from Tacoma. Several other motorcycles, dirt bikes, quads and car parts were also found on the property.
