Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that allegedly hit a pedestrian near North 26th and North Shirley streets last week and fled.

A woman in her early 50s was hit and seriously injured about 8 p.m. on July 5, according to Tacoma police.

The car is described as something similar to a 2009 silver Volkswagen hatchback, possibly a GTI, Golf or Rabbit, with a roof rack and chrome rims.

Its front bumper and hood are likely damaged, and possibly its windshield.

Police ask that anyone with information about such a vehicle or the hit-and-run call Detective Jeff Turner at 253-591-5986 or email him at jturner@cityoftacoma.org. Reports can also be made to (253) 798-4721.

  1. Let’s hope this article helps catch this person. To bad it wasn’t in the paper until five days after incident……

  2. gettowork says:

maybe if there was a raccoon involved it might have got the attention of the TNT staff quicker.
