A man was stabbed to death in Auburn about midnight as he attempted to break up a fight between a man and a woman, Auburn police say.

The man and woman were arguing inside a house near Sixth Street Southeast and K Street Southeast in Auburn. The fight became physical and was taken to the front yard.

A neighbor from across the street came to break up the fight and was stabbed by another man who was with the couple.

The victim collapsed in the street and died, police say.

The suspect got into a car and drove off with others, but was later arrested.

The victim is believed to be a 23-year-old neighbor, according to the Associated Press.
