A teenager, his sister and another woman were arrested today after a failed attempt to rob a South Hill espresso stand with two babies strapped in the backseat of their car.
It was 1:25 a.m. when a car with two women and two babies pulled up in the BigFoot Java drive-thru at the corner of South Meridian and 123rd Street Court East.
“As the barista was making the drink and opening the window, an armed juvenile came up, produced a handgun and demanded money,” said Pierce County sheriff’s Det. Sgt. Jerry Bates.
The barista slammed the window shut and called 911.
Deputies found the women’s vehicle four blocks away. The alleged gunman was in the car, Bates said.
Arrested were a 17-year-old boy and two women, ages 21 and 28. The pair of 1-year-olds that were in the car at the time of the attempted robbery were turned over to a family member.
