Six girls who had been prostituted, some for years, were rescued last week in Pierce and King counties during a sweep coordinated with a nationwide campaign.

Authorities also arrested seven people on suspicion of promoting commercial sexual abuse of a minor. Their names were not released.

All of the victims were offered services like job training, housing, counseling and medical and education assistance, according to the FBI.

The sweeps took place Thursday to Saturday in Tacoma, Lakewood, Auburn, Seattle, Bellevue and other areas in King County in coordination with the national effort, Operation Cross Country VI.

Locally, three Innocence Lost task forces helped recover the victims by contacting them through undercover agents and canvassing areas where prostitution is known to happen.

  1. I believe that from now on the words, Justice System, should be changed to Injustice System. It appears to me, the Courts feel any punnishment meted out to the Criminals is Cruel and Inhumane.Makes me wonder why the Police and Prosecutors bother with attempting to arrest and prosecute anyone for anything.

Hey, Sincere: It’s easy to throw stones at the “Justice System”, but just what are YOU doing to alleviate the cesspool that some innocent children find themselves tossed into like they are garbage? Ragging on those who attempt to help is a pretty low blow. So even if the perpetrators don’t go to prison, at least MAYBE a child might be afforded a way out.

No one lower in this world than those that prey on the vulnerable. Kudos and thanks to the IL Task Force folks. I can’t imagine how they manage to stomach their jobs every day, but God bless ‘em for doing it.
