A woman has been arrested in connection with Tuesday’s shooting of a man in the South Prairie area of east Pierce County.

The News Tribune is not naming the woman because she has not been charged with a crime. She is being held in Pierce County Jail on suspicion of first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a controlled substance.

The man was critically injured Tuesday afternoon inside a home in the 22700 block of 131st Street Court East. He is expected to survive.

Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said the two are acquaintances but detectives are still trying to sort out exactly what happened.

“She was holding a gun and he was holding a Taser,” Troyer said. “He used or attempted to use the Taser and the gun went off. The exact order of things is still unknown.”
