THURSDAY UPDATE: Investigators determined a too much stuff left too close to a baseboard heater in a bedroom sparked the blaze, Tacoma fire reported.

The flames caused $173,500 damage to the home and its contents.

Eight people were displaced from their house in Tacoma tonight after a fire caused significant damage.

The blaze was reported at 8:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of S. 13th Street. Firefighters arrived to find heavy flames and smoke coming from the front of the 1,224-square-foot home.

It took roughly 10 minutes for crews to douse the fire.

No injuries were reported but fire officials said the damage to the house was extensive. A cause is being investigated.
