A dog was killed in a Federal Way apartment building fire today and nine people were displaced.

Three children and six adults managed to escape the blaze, which occurred in the 2400 block of Star Lake Road.

Firefighters were able to save four apartments but the other four units were destroyed.

It’s not clear what caused the fire and investigators said they may not be able to determine a cause because the damage to the building was so extensive, said Kent fire Capt. Kyle Ohashi, who assisted South King County Fire & Rescue on the incident.
