UPDATED: Two people being evaluated after boat started to sink in Commencement Bay

UPDATED at1:57 p.m.:

Tacoma fire paramedics evaluated two men after their boat started sinking in Commencement Bay off Marine View Drive this afternoon.

The men spent some time in the water. One man had gotten out by the time firefighters arrived. The other was brought to shore with some help, the Fire Department reported.

The incident occurred in the 5300 block of Marine View Drive shortly before noon.

KIRO reported the men had been shrimping and crabbing near Browns Point when their boat overturned. They were treated for hypothermia.
