Woman charged in injury-accident Saturday in Tacoma

Pierce County prosecutors have charged a 20-year-old woman with causing a wreck Saturday morning that injured another driver.

Sylola C. Cloud was arraigned Tuesday on vehicular assault and failure to remain at the scene of an injury accident. The Tacoma woman was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Charging documents provide the following information.

Witnesses reported that a black Lincoln Mark VII rear-ended a silver Kia Spectra just after 6:30 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of South 48th and South M streets. A third car also was hit and went up onto a sidewalk.

Man allegedly robs two at gunpoint in Tacoma, now faces criminal charges

Pierce County prosecutors have filed charges against a 22-yar-old Eatonville man after he allegedly robbed two people at gunpoint Friday.

Robert Gary Ward was arraigned Tuesday on one count of first-degree robbery. He was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.

The victims told Tacoma police officers they’d pulled over to rearrange items in their back seat. (Charging documents do not provide a time or location.)

Man injured in University Place garage fire

One man was injured tonight when a fire erupted at a University Place garage where a 100-gallon propane tank was stored, according to West Pierce Fire & Rescue.

Firefighters were called about 5:30 p.m. to a home in the 9700 block of 54th Street Court West and immediately began battling the flames.

After discovering the propane tank, firefighters backed off and used a deck gun to cool the tank and extinguish the blaze.

Fire officials did not say what caused the single injury.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Burglary suspect crashes car into Lakewood home after pursuit

A 27-year-old burglary suspect fleeing from Lakewood police crashed into a house this afternoon and forced his way inside before being arrested.

The incident started about 2:50 p.m. when officers investigating a burglary went looking for the suspect, who Assistant Chief Mike Zaro said police were familiar with due to the man’s extensive criminal history.

The suspect also had a warrant out for his arrest from the Department of Corrections for allegedly escaping from community custody.

“They’re looking for him for all those reasons and he’s driving around in a big red Suburban, so he’s not hard to spot,” Zaro

UPDATED: Names of South Hill homicide victims released

UPDATED at 1:56 p.m.

Two men found dead in a South Hill home Monday morning had been shot in the head, the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office reported today.

The office has ruled both men – Jeffrey Poling, a 36-year-old Spanaway resident, and Travis Dennis, a 32-year-old Puyallup resident – were homicide victims.

Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said investigators believe the two were targeted but don’t know why. They have found no signs of forced entry to the home.

UPDATED: Car crashes into Tacoma-area garage

A speeding car crashed into a garage just outside the City of Tacoma overnight.

The crash occurred near South 96th and South J streets. Deputies tried to stop a car that had been going 75 to 80 mph, sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said.

The car didn’t stop and took off. It failed to make a turn, went over a sidewalk and crashed into a garage. The driver wasn’t hurt and was arrested.

The homeowner told KIRO that sheriff’s deputies knocked on his door and said he needed to come outside.

UPDATE: Two men found dead in South Hill home

Two men who were found dead in a South Hill home on Monday morning were victims of homicide, the spokesman for the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department said.

Sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said the bodies were discovered by the father of one of the men who lived in the home. Neither of the bodies had been identified Monday afternoon. Preliminary indications were that both men likely were killed by gunshot wounds, Troyer said.

Four people charged in two strong-arm robberies in Tillicum

Pierce County prosecutors have charged four young adults with punching and kicking two citizens during robberies in Tillicum earlier this week.

Michael L. Warren, 23; Mathew J. Holt, 20; Brandon L. Buckley, 18; and Krystal R. Smith, 21, were each charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree robbery and made court appearances.

Holt was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $100,000. The others were ordered held on lesser amounts.
