Pierce County prosecutors have filed charges against a 22-yar-old Eatonville man after he allegedly robbed two people at gunpoint Friday.
Robert Gary Ward was arraigned Tuesday on one count of first-degree robbery. He was ordered held in Pierce County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
court documents provide the following information.
The victims told Tacoma police officers they’d pulled over to rearrange items in their back seat. (Charging documents do not provide a time or location.)
A man, later identified as Ward, approached and asked for a light. The male victim got a lighter and when he turned back around, the suspect pointed a gun in his face.
The suspect demanded cash and threatened to take the victim’s car.
The victim and his girlfriend handed over the cash they had.
The robber ran down the street and got into a truck. The victim and his girlfriend followed the truck and called 911.
Officers found the truck a short time later. Ward was arrested inside.
He claimed the victim had given him money and a gun to buy drugs.
“Officers could see cash in the car, including some $100 bills,” court documents state.
