Tacoma police are searching for a man who robbed a South Tacoma convenience store at gunpoint early today.
The man entered the 7-Eleven at 4701 S. Oakes St. just before 2:50 a.m. He pulled a gun and demanded cash from the clerk, Tacoma police spokesman Mark Fulghum said.
The robber grabbed some cash, put it into his pocket and left the store.
Officers responded to the scene. A police dog tried to track the robber’s scent but didn’t locate him, Fulghum said.
The suspect was described as a black man in his 20s. He stood between 6 feet and 6 feet 4 inches tall and had a slight build. He wore a black hat, black jacket, black pants and black shoes.
Officers were working to get surveillance footage from the store to assist in the investigation.
