Flags lowered today for Peace Officers Memorial Day

The state and U.S. flags on all state agency buildings are lowered today in honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day.

Gov. Chris Gregoire ordered that the flags should remain at half-staff until sunset or first thing Wednesday.

Congress created Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962 to honor public safety officers.
