Lakewood police arrested a 27-year-old woman suspected of burglarizing an elementary school early Tuesday.

The burglary alarm at John Dower Elementary School, 7817 John Dower Road W., sounded just after 4:40 a.m.

As Lakewood police arrived, officers spotted a woman dressed in dark clothing running form the building. An officer detained her as other officers checked out the school and found a window had been removed, police reported.

A police dog conducted a track from the school to where the woman was being held.

The woman was booked into Pierce County Jail on suspicion of second-degree burglary and an outstanding misdemeanor warrant.
