Tacoma police arrested one man and were searching for others after shots were fired Monday night.

Witnesses called 911 just before 10:15 p.m. after hearing five gunshots in the 2300 block of South M Street, police reported. The witnesses told officers they saw a large, black SUV-type vehicle leaving the area.

Officers responding to the scene spotted a similar vehicle with three people inside speeding west on South 19th Street near Union Avenue.

The vehicle was found abandoned a short time later in the 1400 block of South Washington.

Officers searched the area and found one man believed to have been in the vehicle. He was arrested on an outstanding warrant and on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine.

No injuries were reported.
