The American Red Cross Mount Rainier Chapter is assisting 26 people who were displaced from their homes Saturday after a fire destroyed several units at a Lakewood apartment complex.

The blaze gutted nine apartments at the Twin Oaks complex, 4801 115th Street Court SW.

Nobody was injured. The Red Cross said it has provided 26 people with food, clothing and other personal items. It opened a shelter at Clover Park Technical College Saturday night but those displaced have now found friends or family members to stay with.

A cause has not been determined.
